Article Abstract:
Marseille is a city that is continually reinventing itself, attracting ambitious young architects from all over the world. The city commissioned Le Corbusier in the late 1940s to design social housing for the large influx of workers rebuilding the city's devastated port while his United Habitation, between Boulevard Michelet and Avenue Mazargues, on what was then the eastern edge of the city, was intended as the solution.
