Nijinsky's 'Notebooks.'
Article Abstract:
The new French manuscript of Nijinsky's 'Notebooks' enables the reader to see how the power of Nijinsky's obsessions carried him away from reality. In this artist paranoia always warred with lucidity and obsession with inspiration. The Avignon Festival presented a stage adaptation of this translation in 1993, and a revised production was done in March 1996 at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. Ultimately, the shadow forces won Nijinsky's inner Faustian battle. His unanswered cry for compassion echoes through the pages of this new edition.

The young Kirov: four ballerinas
Article Abstract:
The Kirov is a theater where the ballerinas still hold their place at the epicenter of productions, performances and plans for the future. Four important young ballerinas now are center stage. The greatest hopes are in Ulyana Lopatkina, in her early twenties. She has already tried out the major roles of the company. The more exotic the role, the more at home she seems, having been coached in the Vaganova-Maryinsky system. Also promising are Diana Vishneva, Margarita Kullik, and Svetlana Zakharova.
