Ruthanna Boris
Article Abstract:
Former dancer Ruthanna Boris is presently executive director of the Center for Dance Development and Research in Albany, CA, but is best remembered as a noted ballerina for Serge Denham's Ballet Russe Monte Carlo. In 1949, while still under contract with Denham's troupe, she was asked by George Balanchine to join the New York City Ballet, but she declined. She quickly rose in status with Denham's troupe and had many memorable performances in "Night Shadow", "Concerto Barocco", and "Swan Lake". Her dancing in "Concerto Barocco" is considered the height of her career.
