The collection of Joshua P. Smith
Article Abstract:
Joshua P. Smith has returned to collecting art photographs after concentrating for a time on prints. Smith prefers photographs that are intense and powerful rather than merely decorative. His collection consists chiefly of works from the 20th century and from around the world. Recently Smith has focused on the work of contemporary color photographers. Smith believes that curators and museums will play greater role in fostering connoisseurship among the public.
