The orbital mission of the space shuttle Endeavor on the January 11, 1998, a few days before the tenth anniversary of the Challenger disaster, was considered a rousing success. The mission included the testing of new spacesuits, as well as new space station construction tools and technologies.

Thomas returns, NASA's presence on Mir ends

US astronaut Andrew Thomas ended his four-month tour-of-duty at the Russian space station Mir on June 12, 1998. US mission controllers believe that the cooperation between the US and Russia on the International Space Station is vital.

NASA scared by not scarred by Hurricane Floyd
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the possible impact on NASA's space programme of a hurricane passing directly through Cape Canaveral, FL, are discussed. The near miss by Hurricane Floyd in 1999 caused only minor damage.
