Controlled environment systems research at the University of Guelph
Article Abstract:
The University of Guelph in Canada is one of a number of institutions conducting research in renewable biological life support based on plants and microorganisms. Extended space missions, such as a manned mission to Mars, could be sustained only by providing means for sustaining life in space. Plants are uniquely capable of providing food, potable water and oxygen while removing dioxide and pollutants and waste.
