International Space Year 1992 will close without much success in raising public consciousness about space issues, despite endorsements from the UN, US Congress and International Astronautical Federation. The National Space Society stresses the need to put more effort into public outreach and education.

The success of the Space Exploration Initiative program of the government depends on the support of the people. The more people that express desire to continue space programs, the greater is the chance that the government will allocate larger funds for space explorations.
