Nigel Mansell, 1992 World Champion Formula One racing driver, was involved in a crash during practice at the IndyCar Grand Prix in Phoenix, AZ. Mansell, in his first season of IndyCar racing, hit a notoriously dangerous concrete wall, but was uninjured.

The Budweiser 500, held at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan, was a hit among the Japanese. The race was characterized by intense competition as the lead changed hands several times. Adrian Fernandez eventually won over Al Unser Jr and Gil de Ferran.

Dances with walls: the 76th Indianapolis 500
Article Abstract:
The 1992 Indianapolis 500 race is described. Both Al Unser and Al Unser Jr were driving and Al Unser Jr was the eventual winner, edging out Scott Goodyear by just 0.043 seconds. It was the closest Indianapolis finish ever.
