A collection of obscure items of information about one of the world's most famous automobile races is presented. The 24-hour Le Mans race is driven over a 13.6 kilometer track amid the streets of the French city where people can casually sit beside a cafe and watch cars drive by at speeds of 232 mph.

The Kaiparowits Plateau, north of Lake Powell, is the farthest from a town and a paved road of anyplace in the lower 48 states. Two walk-in and two drive-in adventures, most at speeds of 1 mph, are vividly described. The Land Rover Defender 90 handled every rugged backcountry challenge.

Don't plan on any Acura Bongo Friendees

Acura has adopted German automobile manufacturers' practice of giving their cars alphanumeric names. Many Japanese cars have memorable names. These names include the Suzuki Every Joy Pop Turbo microvan, the Mazda Bongo Friendee minivan and the Honda Rafaga.
