Company reporting: improving, but more care needed

Article Abstract:

The Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) believes that compliance with accounting standards is essential for accurate financial reports. A recent examination by the ASIC revealed that a number of problems need to be addressed. For example, some companies do not comply with certain standards and requirements of the Corporations law, especially those areas pertaining to intangible assets, directors' and officers' emoluments, and abnormal items.
