A mutant of Listeria monocytogenes L028 unable to induce an acid tolerance response displays diminished virulence in a murine model

Article Abstract:

A research was conducted to study the ability of a Listeria monocytogenes L028 mutant to induce an acid tolerance response (ATR) using log-phase cultures centrifuged in TSB-YE preheated to either 42 degrees C or 37 degrees C. The acid-adapted L028 was showed to exhibit cross-protection against other stresses while the ATR1 cells which reached the spleens had a growth rate similar to that of the parent cells. Moreover, the mutant showed a capability to adapt to acid stress which is important for the pathogenesis of L. monocytogenes.

Construction of p16Slux, a novel vector for improved bioluminescent labeling of gram-negative bacteria

Article Abstract:

A novel vector is constructed for the constitutive luminescent tagging of gram-negative bacteria by using site-specific integration into the 16S locus of the bacterial chromosome. Many gram-negative pathogens are successfully tagged by using this vector and this system is validated during murine infections of living animals.
