C. elegans SIR-2.1 interacts with 14-3-3 proteins to activate DAF-16 and extend life span

Article Abstract:

Two Caenorhabditis elegans 14-3-3 proteins were identified as SIR-2.1 binding partners and it is demonstrated that 14-3-3 genes are required for the life-span extension conferred by extra copies of sir-2.1. Findings suggest the existence of a stress-dependent pathway in which SIR-2.1 and 14-3-3 may act in parallel to the insulin-like pathway to regulate DAF-16 and extend life span.

The KEOPS complex: A rosetta stone for telomere regulation

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to identify a new complex, called KEOPS, which promotes both telomere uncapping and elongation. The defect telomere length that is observed in KEOPS mutants is due to a defect in resection, which leads to reduced binging of Cdc13 and Rpa1, and ultimately reduced recruitment of Est1 and Est2.
