Chromatid and chromosome type breakage-fusion-bridge cycles in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
Article Abstract:
Disomic additions of rye chromosomes to wheat were developed, and two opposite tandem duplications on wheat chromosomes 3D and 4A were separated, introducing the chromatid and chromosome type breakage-fusion-bridge (BFB) cycles. The chromosome type of BFB cycle was originated when two broken chromosome ends underwent fusion, and resulted in the formation of a dicentric or a ring chromosome. High frequency of variegation was obtained by the BFB cycle for pigmentation of the aleurone layer of kernels and somatic chimeras for a morphological marker.

Oxygen association-dissociation and stability analysis on mouse hemoglobins with mutant alpha- and beta-globins
Article Abstract:
Stability and oxygen affinity analyses were performed on the mouse hemoglobins from the second filial generation resulting from a cross between parental strains expressing mutant alpha- and beta-globins. Both variant globins have elevated oxygen affinity. The alpha-globin mutant was stable while the beta-globin mutant was moderately unstable. The oxygen affinity of hemoglobin and the hematologic characteristics of the different genotypes resulting from the original cross are reported.

The polar-lethal Ovum mutant gene maps to the distal portion of mouse chromosome 11
Article Abstract:
The location of the Ovum mutant gene has been mapped to the distal part of mouse chromosome 11. The irregular imprinting of a gene within the mouse chromosome 11 region rather than a standard mutation causes the Ovum mutant gene's lethal phenotype. The Ovum mutant gene is responsible for the unsuccessful crossing of female mice of the DDK inbred strain with males of other inbred strains.
