Cytoplasmic polyadenylation in development and beyond
Article Abstract:
Maternal mRNA translation is influenced by cytoplasmic polyadenylation. The process is critical for meiosis and body patterning. Several of the cis elements and trans-acting factors may support some species specificity. The isolation and cloning of factors associated with poly(A) elongation and deadenylation are advancing knowledge concerning the biochemistry of such reactions and have made known the occurrence of cytoplasmic polyadenylation in the adult brain.

Formation of mRNA 3' ends in eukaryotes: mechanism, regulation, and interrelationships with other steps in mRNA synthesis
Article Abstract:
The formation of mRNA 3' ends in eukaryotes correlates with the interaction of transacting variables with cis-acting signal elements on the RNA precursor by two mechanisms. Most of the basic factors have been determined, including key protein-protein and RNA-protein interactions. Processing can be regulated by altering levels or activity of basic factors or by utilizing repressors and activators, a number of which are parts of the splicing mechanism.

PAS domains: internal sensors of oxygen, redox potential, and light
Article Abstract:
PAS domains are signaling domains distributed in proteins from members of the Archeae and Bacteria and from fungi, insects, plants, and vertebrates. The domains function as input modules in proteins that sense redox potential, oxygen, light and other types of stimuli. PAS proteins are located intracellular and observes external and internal environments. The transduction of redox signal may be a common mechanistic theme in several PAS domains.
