Degradation of morpholine by an environmental Mycobacterium strain involves a cytochrome P-450

Article Abstract:

Research was performed as regards the isolation and characterization of a Mycobacterium strain that metabolizes morpholine as the sole source of carbon, nitrogen and energy. 1H nuclear magnetic resonance was used to quantitatively monitor the degradation of morpholine, to identify the intermediates and to assist in proving the role played by cytochrome P-450 in the degradation. Results revealed that the inhibition of morpholine degradation relied on the morpholine/metyrapone ratio and that P-450 catalyzes the cleavage of the C-N bond of the morpholine ring.

Morpholine degradation pathway of Mycobacterium aurum MO1: direct evidence of intermediates by in situ 1H nuclear magnetic resonance

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to assess the degradation of morpholine by Mycobacterium aurum MO1 through the use of in situ 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Such a method allows the identification and quantification of metabolites which accumulated during growth by rendering invisible the fully deuterated microbial cultures. It also facilitated the study of the degradative metabolism of M. aurum MO1 by directly analyzing the incubation medium in water.

Genetic and molecular oganization of the alkylbenzene catabolism operon in the psychotrophic strain Pseudomonas putida 01G3

Article Abstract:

A potential regulator and six putative enzymes were determined for the alkylbenzene upper pathway within the psychotrophic organism Pseudomonas putida 01G3. The regulator, EbdR, and enzymes, EbdAaAbAcAdBC, demonstrated pronounced similarities with P. putida RE204 enzymes in the equivalent pathway.
