Disruption of doubly uniparental inheritance of mitochondrial DNA in hybrid mussels (Mytilus edulis x M. galloprovincialis)

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on hybrid blue mussels which have doubly uniparental inheritance of mitochondrial DNA. The authors suggest that the disruption of doubly uniparental inheritance in these mussels could be associated with increased mortality and could be a factor in genetic integrity maintenance for the species.

Pericentric satellite DNA sequences in Pipistrellus pipistrellus (Vespertilionidae; Chiroptera)

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on HindIII family of satellite DNA in bat species Pipistrellus pipistrellus. The authors discuss cytogenic and molecular characterization of HindIII family, and report the discovery of differences in the ladder pattern of bands between the populations of the same species.

Intraspecific evolution of Canary Island plecotine bats, based on mtDNA sequences

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on endemic Canary Island bats. The authors have investigated the island differentiation and the relatioships with congenerics in these bats via the use of mitochondial DNA from the 16S ribosomal RNA and cytochrome b genes, and have described the results.
