Foraging proficiency and body condition of juvenile American dippers
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine foraging proficiency in juvenile American Dippers. A population of dippers was observed along the Logan River in Utah from Mar 1994 to Aug 1995. A number of body condition measures were also analyzed in an attempt to gain insights in the survival of juvenile dippers. These include hematocrit value, body mass, fat scores and growth rate in nestling. Results indicated that physically-fit juvenile dippers forage more effectively than those with poor health.

Brown Pelican foraging success related to age and height of dive
Article Abstract:
The conclusions of a previous study that mature Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis), with their better-honed hunting skills, have higher capture success than immature ones was proven correct. Furthermore, capture success was correlated with height of dive, indicating a trade-off between higher energy costs and greater chances of prey capture. Pelicans appear to increase diving height when prey density is low, and to lower diving height when prey is abundant.

Memory for hoarded food: an aviary study of the European Nuthatch
Article Abstract:
An aviary study on six male European Nuthatches was conducted by allowing them to hoard 30 sunflower seeds in natural hoarding substrates. All the birds in the experiment were food-deprived and were expected to be equally motivated to gather seeds. However, results show that a hoarder found more amount of seeds compared to a naive bird. Furthermore, the hoarder found seeds faster. These outcome suggests memory cache sites.
