Frederick Bruce Hutt (1897-1991)
Article Abstract:
Dr. Frederick Bruce Hutt was highly regarded in biology for his work on the genetics of domestic animals, especially fowl. He wrote several books on the subject which were well-received by both the scientific and lay communities. Most of his professional activities centered on research and teaching, with emphasis on the application of research findings to practical usage. He served on the editorial board of The Journal of Heredity for 25 years, from 1957 to 1982. For his work on poultry genetics and breeding, he was elected to the American Poultry Hall of Fame in 1980 and to the International Poultry Hall of Fame in 1988.

Collaborative research and the misuse of genetics: a memorial to William Marks
Article Abstract:
Geneticist William Marks was known as a modest, humorous and patient man who viewed everyone as his equal. He undertook several lines of studies after his graduate work in genetics at Davis and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. He analyzed mathematical models of biological phenomena and how such models can be best understood. Marks was also known for his efforts to correct errors on notions of genetic inferiority discussed in the book 'The Bell Curve.'

Profiles in genetics: J.B.S. Haldane (1892-1964) - a centennial appreciation
Article Abstract:
The life of John Burdon Sanderson Haldane was presented as well as his contributions in the field of science particularly genetics. He developed the first mapping function which served as the basis for research by present molecular biologists. He also formulated Haldane's rule concerning the offspring of interspecific crosses. However, his most important contribution was the mathematical theory of natural selection which is the cornerstone of modern-day genetics.
