Genetic identification of a putative vinyl chloride reductase in Dehalococcoides sp. strain BAV1

Article Abstract:

A procedure to design PCR amplify putative RDase genes of Dehalococcoides spp. and to identify RDase genes implicated in vinyl chloride (VC) reductive dechlorination is presented. The results suggest that a diversity of VC RDase genes exists, and additional sequences should be obtained before development of a comprehensive suite of nucleic acid-based tools to target all VC RDase genes becomes feasible.

Microbial diversity in natural asphalts of the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits

Article Abstract:

The first survey of microbial diversity in ca. 28,000-year-old samples of natural asphalts from the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles, CA is reported. It shows coexistence of mixed microbial communities at high cell densities.
