Inheritance of astigmatism: evidence for a major autosomal dominant locus
Article Abstract:
Evidence supports a single-major-locus model for inheritance of corneal astigmatism, suggesting that genetic linkage studies could be conducted with multiplex families of severely affected individuals. The POINTER and COMDS programs were used to perform complex segregation analysis on data from 125 nuclear families of people with astigmatism. Alternative genetic models could not be eliminated by POINTER, but COMDS supported single-major-locus inheritance after the severity parameter was included.

A susceptibility locus for bipolar affective disorder on chromosome 4q35
Article Abstract:
A susceptibility locus for bipolar affective disorder (BAD) has been identified on chromosome 4q35. Significant LOD scores were obtained for four microsatellite markers: D4S1652, D4S408, D4S2924 and D4S171. A genome screen was conducted for 214 microsatelite markers in a large Australian pedigree, and genotypes for an additional 10 pedigrees were examined for the four microsatellite markers.
