Insertional mutagenesis of a fungal biocontrol agent led to discovery of a rare cellobiose lipid with antifungal activity

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on fungal biocontrol agent Pseudozyma flocculosa. The authors report the production of P. flocculosa insertional mutants generated via genetic transformation which has led to the discovery of a rare cellobiose lipid with antifungal activity absent in deficient P. flocculosa mutants.

Alteration of chain length substrate specificity of Aeromonas caviae R-enantiomer-specific enoyl-coenzyme A hydratase through site-directed mutagenesis

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Aeromonas caviae R-specific enoyl-coenzyme A hydratase. The authors have investigated the feasibility of changing the acyl chain length substrate specificity of this hydratase via the use of site-directed mutagenesis.

Chlorination and cleavage of lignin structures by fungal chloroperoxidases

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on fungal chloroperoxidases. The authors report that these chloroperoxidases have chlorinated 1-(4-ethoxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-1,3-dihydroxypropane, the major lignin's nonphenolic structure.
