Interplay between Ino80 and Swrl chromatin remodeling enzymes regulates cell cycle checkpoint adaptation in response to DNA damage
Article Abstract:
A demonstration that Ino80 is required for cell cycle checkpoint adaptation in response to a persistent DNA double-strand break (DSB) is presented. The failure of cells lacking Ino80 to escape checkpoint arrest correlates with an inability to maintain high levels of histone H2AX phosphorylation and an increased incorporation of the Htzlp histone variant into chromatin surrounding the DSB.

SWI/SNF is required for transcriptional memory at the yeast GAL gene cluster
Article Abstract:
The inheritance of gene expression mechanisms through cellular generations, known as epigenetic transcriptional memory, is influenced by post-translational modification of nucleosomal histones. It is demonstrated that the nucleosomal histone SWI/SNF, an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling enzyme, is required for the transcriptional memory of the GAL1 gene cluster of yeast.

Recruitment of the INO80 complex by H2A phosphorylation links ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling with DNA double-strand break repair
Article Abstract:
Tests were conducted to show that strains lacking INO80, ARP5 or ARP8 have defects in transcription and that these mutants are hypersensitive to DNA damaging agents as well as double-strand breaks induced by HO endonuclease. It was found that conversion of double-strand breaks to ssDNA compromising of ARP8 as well as H2A mutants.
