Localization and characterization of two novel genes encoding stereospecific dioxygenases catalyzing 2(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)propionate cleavage in Delftia acidovorans MC1

Article Abstract:

Two novel genes, rdpA and sdpA, encoding the enantiospecific alpha-ketoglutarate dependent dioxygenases catalyzing R,S-dichloroprop cleavage in Delftia acidovorans MC1 are identified and localized. The organization of these genes within the genome of strain MC1, as well as in a mutant deficient in dichlorprop cleavage, was examined with regard to implications for the instability of this trait.

Overexpression and characterization of an iron storage and DNA-binding Dps protein from Trichodesmium erthraeum

Article Abstract:

A Fe-binding protein belonging to the Dps family (DNA binding protein from starved cells) in the N2-fixing marine cyanobacterium Trichodesmium erythraeum is described. A dps gene encoding a protein with significant levels of identity to the members of the Dps family was identified in the genome of T. erythraeum

Novel redox potential-based screening strategy for rapid isolation of Klebsiella pneumoniae mutants with enhanced 1,3-propanediol-producing capability

Article Abstract:

A novel redox potential (oxidoreduction potential [ORP]-based screening strategy is described for the isolation of mutants of Klebsiella pneumoniae which have an increased ability to produce 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD). It shows a new method of screening for strains with improved product formation.
