Opposite sex determination of gonads in two Pleurodeles species may be due to a temperature-dependent inactivation of sex chromosomes
Article Abstract:
Sex reversal occurs prior to gonad differentiation in the urodele amphibians Pleurodeles waltl and Pleurodeles poireti due to an increase in temperature by about 10 degrees Celsius. Sex reversal constitutes differentiation of gonads into testes in the genotypic females and into ovaries in the genotypic males. The presence of a thermosensitive locus in peptidase-1 beta gene inhibits sex reversal through the inhibition of sex determining genes.

The braincase of Euparkeria, and the evolutionary relationships of birds and crocodilians
Article Abstract:
Studies of the braincase of the Triassic reptile Euparkeria suggest that Eurparkeria does not belong to the archosaur crown group although it is close to the group. The Eurparkeria's braincase incorporates features that are primarily plesiomorphic for Archosauria. It has a well-defined semilunar depression and undivided metotic fissure while lacking well-developed tympanic sinuses.
