Parasitism by shiny cowbirds of rufous-bellied thrushes
Article Abstract:
The interaction between the brood parasite Shiny Cowbird and the common large host Rufous-bellied Thrush in the Del Viso area in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was investigated. Thirty-four out of 70 Rufous-bellied Thrush nests were observed during the egg stage. The size of host clutches decreased because of egg puncture in 10 more nests but there were no parasitic eggs. Results indicated that the Rufous-bellied Thrush is a poor host for Shiny Cowbirds due to its large size and short incubation period.

Song post and foraging site characteristics of breeding varied thrushes in northwestern California
Article Abstract:
Song post and foraging habitat requirements of Varied Thrushes in northern California were examined and it was hypothesized that they would use song post or foraging locations differing in habitate characteristics from those at random locations. Various habitat associations at multiple scales that could affect patterns of use of Varied Thrushes were identified.

Pathogenicity, serological responses, and diagnosis of experimental and natural malarial infections in native Hawaiian thrushes
Article Abstract:
Research describing avian malarial infection in Omao (Myadestes obscurus) from the Hawaiian Islands is presented. Comparisons with honeycreepers both in captivity and the wild suggest that Hawaiian thrushes have a high tolerance for malaria.
