Infectious swine hepatitis E virus is present in pig manure storage facilities on United States farms, but evidence of water contamination is lacking
Article Abstract:
Fresh feces, manure slurry and drinking and surface water samples from the Midwestern US are tested for hepatitis E virus (HEV) RNA by reverse transcription-PCR. The results show that HEV found in pig manure slurry was infectious when inoculated intravenously, pit manure slurry was a source of HEV infection and for contamination of the environment and contamination of drinking or surface water with HEV was not found on or near the pig farms.

Development of a mariner-based transposon for use in Sorangium cellulosum
Article Abstract:
Research describes the construction of a transposon on the lines of eukaryotic mariner transposon to generate insertions in the mycobacterium Sorangium cellulosum. Data show that incorporating a mutated tnp gene in the construct enhances its transposition frequency.
