Pseudomonas sp. strain 273, an aerobic alpha, omega-dichloroalkane-degrading bacterium
Article Abstract:
A novel Pseudomonas species, designated strain 273, was isolated and characterized and was able to grow in suspensions of 1,10-dichlorodecane (DCD) and other alpha-omega-dichloroalkanes. The isolate was also observed to grow with nonhalogenated aliphatic compounds and decane-grown cells dechlorinated 1,10-DCD without a lag phase. 1,10-DCD was also dechlorinated in the presence of chloramphenicol which revealed that the 1,10-DC-dechlorinating enzyme system was also induced by decane.

NADP-isocitrate dehydrogenase from Pseudomonas nautica: kinetic constant determination and carbon limitation effects on the pool of intracellular substrates
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the effects of carbon availability on intracellular isocitrate and NADP+ concentrations. Flow cytometry was utilized to determine P. nautica in all growth phases while the pyruvate concentration int he culture medium was obtained using the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase. Experimental results indicated an ordered sequential reaction mechanism for isocitrate dehydrogenase from Pseudomonas nautica.
