Evidence for a major gene underlying bone size variation in the Chinese

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the Chinese population to analyze the correlation and segregation of spine and hipbones sizes. The results revealed that the size of the spine bone was dependent on a codominant gene inheritance while no evidence of a gene was found that influences the hipbone size.

Race and sex differences and contribution of height: A study on bone size in healthy Caucasians and Chinese

Article Abstract:

The study was carried on 763 Chinese from Shangai, People's Republic of China and 424 Caucasians and it was found that Caucasians had a larger bone size than Chinese. The results show that height is a major predictor for bone size, and contributions vary across sex, race, and skeletal site.

Variations in RANK gene are associated with adult height in Caucasians

Article Abstract:

The robust family based association test is used to test 18 single nucleotide polymorphisms and seven haplo-type blocks covering the full transcript length of the RANK gene. Study suggests that RANK polymorphisms contribute to adult height variation.
