Regulation of the TSC pathway by LKB1: evidence of a molecular link between tuberous sclerosis complex and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome

Article Abstract:

The functional relationships between the two tumor suppressors, namely, tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS), which are dominantly inherited benign tumor syndromes sharing striking histopathological similarities are examined. The regulation of the TSC pathway by LKB1, which acts a tumor suppressor by activating TSC2, the gene mutated in TSC reveals that PJS and other benign tumor syndromes can be caused by dsyregulation of the TSC2/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway.

Nuclear myosin I acts in concert with polymeric action to drive RNA polymerase I transcription

Article Abstract:

Actin and nuclear myosin I (NM1) act in concert to promote RNA polymerase I (Pol1) transcription. The cooperative action of actin and myosin in the nucleus and actin polymerization and the motor function of NM1 are required for association with the Pol I transcription machinery and transcription activation.
