RheA, the repressor of hsp18 in Streptomyces albus G
Article Abstract:
G RheA, the repressor of hsp18, one member of the family of small heat-shock proteins, is discussed relative to Streptomyces albus. Hsp18 can be detected only at high temperatures. Disrupting orfY, upstream of hsp18 and in the opposite orientation, brought elevation of hsp18 (ital) mRNA at low temperature. The product of oftT, now called RheA, directly represses hsp18 (ital). RheA seems to repress transcription of rheA also.

Dispensable ribosomal resistance to spiramycin conferred by srmA in the spiramycin producer Streptomyces ambofaciens
Article Abstract:
The spiramycin producer Streptomyces ambofaciens is discussed relative to the dispensable ribosomal resistance to spiramycin the srmA, a resistance determinant, confers. Several resistance determinants were isolated from S. ambofaciens, one of which was srmA. It hybridized with ermE, the erythromycin-resistance gene from Saccharopolyspora erthraea.
