Spatiotemporal feedback between actomyosin and focal-adhesion systems optimizes rapid cell migration
Article Abstract:
Quantitative fluorescent speckle microscopy (qFSM) is used to examine the hypothesis that adhesion strength, modulated by extracellular matrix (ECM) ligand density, affects specific aspects of the organization and dynamics of the lamellipodium and contractile F-actin modules. The results have shown that adhesion strength modulates cell migration speed by spatiotemporal feedback between specific parameters of actomyosin and focal adhesion (FA) dynamics.

A Rae1- containing ribonucleoprotein complex is required for mitotic spindle assembly
Article Abstract:
Centrosome-independent microtubule polymerization around chromosomes shows a local gradient of RanGTP, which discharges mitotic cargoes from the nuclear import receptor importin beta. The results of the studies show that Rae1 exists in a large ribonucleoprotein complex, which requires RNA for its activity to control microtubules dynamics in vitro.
