Structure of a laccase-mediated product of coupling of 2,4-diamino-6-nitrotoluene to guaiacol, a model for coupling of 2,4,6-trinitrotolene metabolites to a humic organic soil matrix
Article Abstract:
The structure of a laccase-mediated product of coupling of 2,4-Diamino-6-nitrotoluene to guaiacol, a model for coupling of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) metabolites to a humic organic soil matrix was studied. The research aimed to examine the impact of fungal extracellular laccase on the incorporation and binding of TNT and reduced TNT metabolites into the organic soil matrix. Results reveal 5 possible bonding types and structures for the coupling product of the reaction between 2,4-DANT and guaiacol.

Characterization of metabolites in the biotransformation of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene with anaerobic sludge: role of triaminotoluene
Article Abstract:
The products of trinitrotoluene (TNT) degradation in anaerobic sludge were identified using solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Results reveal that the biodegradation of TNT takes place in two cycles. The first cycle reduces TNT to triaminotoluene (TAT) followed by a second cycle which generates azo derivatives from TAT.
