TATA box mimicry by TFIID: autoinhibition of pol II transcription
Article Abstract:
The transcription factor IID consists of a TATA box-binding protein (TBP) and TBP associated factors (TAF (sub II)) that both play an important role in the autoinhibition if RNA polymerase II transcription. The negative terminal region of the 230 kDa Drosophila TAF (sub II) directly binds to TBP and restrains TBP binding to the TATA box. The TBP-binding surface of the 230 kDa Drosophila TAF (sub II) mimics the minor groove surface of the partially unwound TATA box in the TBP-TATA complex.

Cotranslational biogenesis of NF-Kappa-b p50 by the 26S proteasome
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to test whether the full-length eukaryotic transcription factor gene p105 is not the primary precursor of p50, and that it is cotranslationally generated by a proteasome-mediated process. P105 C-terminal deletion mutants were harvested by polymerase chain reaction. Results showed that p50 was generated by a cotranslational mechanism and argued against a classical precursor-product relationship between p50 and p105.

The DNA replication and damage checkpoint pathways induce transcription by inhibition of the Crt1 receptor
Article Abstract:
The yeast constitutive RNR transcription 1 (CRT1) was isolated and analyzed to examine its effect on the DNA damage and replication checkpoint pathways. Results showed that the DNA damage and replication block checkpoint pathways induce transcription through the inhibition of the CRT1 repressor. Moreover, DNA damage induces CRT1 autoregulation, which is common throughout the prokaryotic and eukaryotic evolution.
