Tetracycline antibiotics: mode of action, applications, molecular biology, and epidemiology of bacterial resistance
Article Abstract:
This review presents tetracycline antibiotics in the light of their discovery, structure-activity relationships, mechanism of action, development of resistance by bacteria, and their usage in human and veterinary medicine. The discovery of a new generation of tetracylines, the glycylcyclines and ways of combating the resistance mechanism by developing inhibitors are also discussed.

Hepatitis B virus biology
Article Abstract:
The nature of hepatitis B virus infection is reviewed, focusing on its ability to evade the host's immune system and cause a life-long infection of the liver. This chronic infection and inflammation can often lead to liver cirrhosis and cancer.

A new biology for a new century
Article Abstract:
The discipline of biology was guided by the molecular paradigm in the 20th century. A new path is needed to address the problems in biology, which could not be handled by molecular biology in the 20th century.
