The dawn of bilaterian animals: The case of acoelomorph flatworms

Article Abstract:

The origin of the bilaterian metazoans from radial ancestors is one of the biggest puzzles in human evolution and the only way to solve it is to identify the nature and main features of the last common ancestor of the bilateralness (LCB). The LCB is considered to be a complex organism bearing several features of modern bilaterians.

A new bone to pick: osteoblasts and the haematopoietic stem-cell niche

Article Abstract:

The two transgenic models, Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor 1A gene and active PTH/PTHrP receptor mutant leads to increase in trabecular osteoblasts and number of HSCs. Research shows that osteoblasts are major, defining component of the HSC niche within the bone marrow.
