UNC-4 represses CEH-12/HB9 to specify synaptic inputs to VA motor neurons in C. elegans
Article Abstract:
An analysis reveals that the expression of CEH-12/ HB9 in various VA motor neurons are repressed by the UNC-4 homoprotein, which are then helpful in imposing synaptic inputs to the VA motor neurons in Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans). The results show that the same mechanism involved in the conservation of UNC-4, HB9 and Groucho expression in the vertebrates, is also responsible for regulating much other synaptic specificity in the spinal cord.

A nonclassical bHLH-Rbpj transcription factor complex is required for specification pf GABAergic neurons independent of notch signaling
Article Abstract:
The role of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor Ptfla for specification of the GABAergic neurons is discussed. Results suggest the importance of Ptfla-Rbpj complex for controlling the balanced formation of inhibitory and excitatory neurons in the developing spinal cord.
