Chromosomal inversions effect body size and shape in different breeding resources in Drosophila buzzatii

Article Abstract:

The authors have carried out the study on cactophilic Drosophila buzzatii. They report that they have tested the effects of second chromosome inversions on shape and body size across the natural breeding substrates, and that the results support the hypothesis that size-related traits and wing loading have a genetic basis associated with inversion polymorphism.

Thermal tolerance trade-offs associated with the right arm of chromosome 3 and marked by the hsr-omega gene in Drosophila melanogaster

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Drosophila melanogaster which demonstrates different clinal changes in resistance to heat and cold. The authors describe their study of the variation at the polymorphic site in the heat shock hsr-omega gene in D. melanogaster that maps to the chromosome 3 right arm.
