WPP leads way in global ties to clients

WPP Group has appointed Martin Goldfarb as "coordinator" of the Ford Motor account, consolidating the usually independent efforts of Ogilvy & Mather, J. Walter Thompson and Young & Rubicam. WPP chief Martin Sorrell feels large ad holding companies have important corporate muscle with clients and opportunities to broker global deals. WPP considers itself the parent company of partners ready to expand worldwide portfolios.

U.K. ad titan St. Luke's is still different

Andy Law, chairman and co-founder of London, England-based St. Luke's ad agency, plans a global-reaching operation that will herald cultural diversity and challenge capitalism. The agency, which is 100% employee-owned, is devoted to an ideal model where team effort , creativity and co-management are stressed. Some employees believe that Law is more interested in his own image than the smooth operation of an innovative business model.
