The Draconian restrictions on the import of books still remain to the benefit of British publishers and their Australian subsidiaries. The reading public and students are paying far more for books and the choice is restricted because of the inability of Australian booksellers to import parallel.

Issues concerning petrol pricing in Australia are discussed. Prices tend to fluctuate frequently in urban areas, damaging relationships between petrol companies and consumers. In rural areas, lack of competition means that prices tend to remain high all the time.
