Article Abstract:
Comsoft, Inc's (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) Abacus II accounting software package was designed for use on real-time, multi-user networks. The basic Abacus II package contains general ledger, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and cash flow modules, and reporting and graphics functions. Additional modules are also available. The program allows network files to be updated instantly, and thus users do not have to wait for files to be batched and updated. Features of the package include a word processing and spreadsheet capability, a data dictionary, calculator, and memo fields. Abacus II runs on IBM compatible computers with a minimum of 640K RAM, a hard disk, and DOS 3.03 or higher. In addition, it will operate on all DOS-based and Novell networks. Abacus II costs $1,695, and additional modules for job estimating, costing and inventory, and order entry cost an additional $850 each.

PC package review: tax
Article Abstract:
PC-Tax Cut (a software program from Best Programs) uses five diskettes to provide a complete approach to preparing taxes. Another program able to perform similar tasks is The Tax Machine 1984 (from Accountants Microsystems Inc.), which comes with a video tape tutorial, adding to the simplicity of learning and operating this software product. A nice feature is the interactive capacity of The Tax Machine 1984 that allows for an interview process while preparing tax returns.
