Article Abstract:
The information and reputation cascades, driven up by activists or nongovernmental organizations, in that may cause public policy issues to become widely salient is studied. The way the firms can prevent the occurrence of such wide spread salience and the way they can respond once an issue has become widely salient is discussed.
