Kemperer, married to a non-Jew, was enslaved but not killed by the Nazis. He maintained that he was German and revered his concept of the supremacy of Germans above all people. His diaries, which are newly published, are appreciated by some Germans as a buffer to the decline in nationalism.

Oil tanker wreck fouls Shetlands
Article Abstract:
A storm forced the oil tanker 'Braer' aground at the southern end of the Shetland Islands on Jan 5, 1993. The accident spilled 26 million gallons of crude oil, killing about 6,000 seabirds.
