NATO resumes airstrikes against Bosnian Serbs

Article Abstract:

The Bosnian Serbs violated a deadline to begin removing their weapons imposed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and a new round of air strikes was undertaken to enforce the deadline. The NATO deadline called for Serbs to leave Sarajevo. The air strikes were opposed by Russia.

Attacks in Bosnian cities punctuate uneasy peace

Article Abstract:

There were minor clashes in Mostar and Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina from Jan 1-9, 1996, but none were significant enough to threaten the peace treaty. NATO's 60,000-strong peacekeeping force continued to deploy into the region. Serbs reportedly destroyed evidence of a mass grave in Ljubija.
