New PCs, new choices for business owners

Article Abstract:

Advanced Micro Devices's (AMD) K6 processors have become a dependable alternative to Intel Corp.'s low-end models. Intel's low-end models are the Pentium MMX processors that operate at 300 megahertz (MHz). Both Intel's and AMD's 300 MHz MMX models operate the word-processing, spreadsheet, accounting, and other software that is used in mainstream businesses. The models are usually included in fully equipped PCs. Although these systems are comparatively slow, they are less-expensive than the newest systems which have Intel's 400MHz Pentium II processor.

Commercial satellite constellation offers potential military benefits

Article Abstract:

Commercial satellite systems provide the US military with alternative broadband platforms, ensuring all the armed services with ubiquitous coverage. Alternative broadband satellite systems, including Hughes Communications Inc.'s Spaceway and Loral's Cyberstar, are of increasing importance in view of the inability of existing military broadband satellite systems to satisfy huge demands for bandwidth. Moreover, commercial satellite constellations ensure the military connectivity to support warfighting systems everywhere they are deployed.
