Trade deficit rose in January

Article Abstract:

The Commerce Dept reported that trade deficit increased from 6.96 billion in Dec 1995, to 10.27 billion in Jan 1996. The increase was attributed to a decline in exports, bad winter weather and other factors. The bilateral trade deficit with Japan rose 9.3%, and with China 39.3%.

Trade deficit increased in July

Article Abstract:

The Commerce Dept reported that the nation's trade deficit increased from $11.28 billion in Jun 1995, to $11.50 billion in Jul 1995, a larger-than-expected increase. However, the trade gap with Japan dropped from $5.29 billion in Jun 1995, to $5.12 billion in Jul 1995.

Trade gap grew in 1995 to seven-year high; deficit increased 4.5% from 1994

Article Abstract:

The Commerce Dept reported that the nation's trade deficit rose from $106.21 billion in 1994, to $111.04 billion in 1995, a 4.5% increase. The merchandise trade gap also increased from $166.1 billion to $174.5 billion during the same time period.
