Tricks of the Trade: The Performance and Interpretation of Authenticity

Article Abstract:

A cross-cultural orientation process is examined, using as an example the advertising campaign ideas created by a Japanese advertising agency for a company planning to market in Germany and the US. Discussion focuses on authentic reproduction, cultural stereotypes and their interpretation, and underlying strategies versus performance.
