500 inspectors as Peru season starts

As the anchovy fishing season starts from October 15th the Peruvian authorities made elaborate arrangements to check the fleet of Viking of illegal vessels from fishing. The illegal fishmeal and oil sale figures stand at $144.2 million and another $26.98 in lost taxes.

Disaster relief after salmon closures in US?

Article Abstract:

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) temporally closed some fisheries in US west coast region, as the population of salmon is decreasing drastically in this region. The emergency financial support may be required for the salmon fishers in this region.

The fisheries based in Boulogne, France are unable to capitalize on the abundant mackerel population because of change in the method of calculating the fish stock by scientists. Norway too has been asking European Union to cut down on mackerel fishing.
