A new port of call

Article Abstract:

Anthony White, an architectural student, drew up an innovative design for a carport at his parents' 1950s chalet bungalow in Bishop's Stortford, England. The carport is made from a pre-fabricated lighweight assembly of mill-finish aluminium frames. It has an oversailing profiled aluminium roof, along with an up-and-over door between two solid cedar posts. The crossbeams and columns are butt-jointed with mechanical joints, and the door hangs on a Cardale torsion-spring mechanism.
