A typology of distribution channel systems: a contextual approach
Article Abstract:
A typology of channel systems based on channel contextual factors indicates that the systems' behavioral process differs among various channel contexts. The three factors include environmental uncertainty, value-added in the downstream channel and supplier replaceability. The proposed typology also shows that effective management of relationships among business firms can be possible with high commitment under particular channel contexts.
