Article Abstract:

Sri Lanka's recent election campaign was marred by violence and intimidation but may prove to be a new step towards peace. The United National Front is now thought to be the biggest parliamentary group, and seems to be more willing to talk to the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
